On today’s episode I speak with Jess Demetrious, the founder of Raising Resilience Mornington Peninsula. So often I’m asked about how we can best support young children experiencing separation anxiety, so I’ve taken the question to a child mental health advocate and expert!

Jess and I discuss:

🌸 What separation anxiety feels like for a child and what’s going on inside the brain of a child experiencing it

🌸 Language we can use to support children that’s helpful (and unhelpful)

🌸 Why it’s important to provide space for all emotions - even the big ones

🌸 How separation anxiety can manifest for children (hint: it’s not always retreating like we’re led to believe!)

🌸 The role (and power) of play and movement in moving through feelings of separation anxiety

For our chat, Jess had actually created a wonderful resource to support those of you supporting children experiencing separation anxiety - but we got so carried away with our discussion that we forgot to touch on it! You can download it via the link below.
