Every GTM initiative you have ever rolled out died in the same room. Not in the kickoff, not in the training — in a one-on-one, two weeks later, when a rep asked their manager: do I really have to do that?

Ally Combs has one of the sharpest views we have heard on why most enablement programs quietly die. She learned to sell at AppDynamics, where she took a pay cut and several demotions to start over as a BDR, then went from BDR to enterprise account executive in about three years and rode the company through its $3.7B acquisition by Cisco. She did it again at Snowflake as a seller through its IPO, before crossing to the other side of the table and building ClickUp's sales enablement function almost from scratch across their $100M to $300M ARR run.

Today she is Head of GTM Enablement at Bretton AI, where instead of buying an LMS, a content system and a reporting stack, she vibe coded the entire thing herself. In this conversation with LeanScale co-founder Anthony Enrico, Ally breaks down the layer of the org that decides whether any GTM initiative actually sticks, the interview techniques she is still stealing from her old CROs, and why the real work in modern GTM tooling has moved from picking tools to owning the data model.

ABOUT THE GUEST

Ally Combs is the Head of GTM Enablement at Bretton AI, the agentic AI platform for financial crime operations that rebranded from Greenlite AI alongside a $75M Series B led by Sapphire Ventures. Ally learned enterprise selling at AppDynamics, where she took a pay cut and several demotions to restart as a BDR and moved to enterprise account executive in roughly three years, staying through the company's $3.7B acquisition by Cisco. She then sold at Snowflake through its IPO before moving to the other side of the table, building ClickUp's GTM enablement function almost from scratch across the company's $100M to $300M ARR run. At Bretton she is the first enablement hire, and rather than buying a traditional enablement stack she built her own LMS, content system, reporting and lead routing on top of Salesforce.
