Are we living in a computer simulation?

What once sounded like science fiction is now a serious conversation happening at the intersection of quantum physics, artificial intelligence, and the nature of consciousness.

In this episode, Dr. JC Doornick sits down once again with MIT-educated computer scientist, entrepreneur, and author of The Simulation Hypothesis, Rizwan Virk. Together they explore one of the most provocative questions of our time: is reality truly fundamental—or is it more like a rendered environment generated by deeper layers of information?

Rather than treating simulation theory as sensational speculation, Riz brings a disciplined and thoughtful approach that bridges modern science, ancient philosophy, and emerging technology. The conversation moves beyond the basics of simulation theory into deeper territory—examining consciousness as a potential user interface for reality, the difference between living like a Player versus an NPC, and how artificial intelligence may be accelerating humanity toward what some call the “Simulation Point.”

Along the way, Dr. JC introduces a fascinating perspective from quantum physics—the Higgs Field—suggesting that even the space between objects is alive with energy, a kind of hidden dancer giving matter its appearance. If everything we experience is patterned energy at different densities, what does that mean for our attempt to understand reality itself?

Most importantly, the conversation tackles the question that matters most to everyday life: if this is a simulation, does our suffering, purpose, and joy still matter?

Whether you’re curious about simulation theory, fascinated by consciousness, or simply wondering what it means to truly be present in your own life, this episode invites you to explore the possibility that reality may be far stranger—and more meaningful—than we ever imagined.
