The Witness

This episode of "Devil in the Desert" focuses on the investigation into the kidnapping and torture of Michael and Mary Barnes. Detective Ryan Peters discovers a Chevy Tahoe linked to Hossein Nayeri, whose DNA was found on a glove in Kyle Hanley's car, a vehicle spotted at Michael's house before the attack. The Tahoe contains surveillance equipment used to monitor Michael. Nayeri's wife, Courtney Shigarian, is brought in for questioning and eventually agrees to a proffer, revealing Nayeri, Kyle Hanley, and Ryan Kevorkian were involved in the crime, motivated by the belief that Michael had buried money in the desert. Kevorkian's DNA is linked to the crime, and Courtney is then asked to help lure Nayeri out of Iran.
