Getaway

This episode of "Devil in the Desert" details the elaborate plan to lure Hossein Nayeri out of Iran and back to the United States to face charges for a kidnapping case. Courtney Shigeria, Nayeri's wife, is coerced by law enforcement to cooperate by recording their phone conversations and enticing him to travel to Spain for a vacation. Unbeknownst to Nayeri, the authorities coordinate with Czech police to arrest him during a stopover in Prague. After his extradition to the U.S., Nayeri orchestrates a jailbreak with two other inmates, leading to a manhunt and heightened security for those involved in his prosecution, including Courtney, who fears for her life. The episode also reveals how Nayeri manipulated an ESL teacher to aid in his escape, only to betray her in the process.
