这一纸禁令引起举世哗然。哈佛大学立即向法院起诉，指控政府公然违反美国宪法。联邦法官签发临时限制令，暂停了禁令，哈佛赢得暂时的胜利。

有389年历史的哈佛大学，是美国最有名、最富有的大学，是自由主义思想的重镇、精英的摇篮，也是一些保守派人士的眼中钉。
