“Throw someone under the bus”。

“throw” 有扔、投掷的意思，“someone” 是某人，

“under the bus” 是在公交车下面。

字面上看，感觉是 “把某人扔到公交车下” 的意思。

可一代入到台词的情景中，却怎么都不对劲。

“Throw someone under the bus”

意思是 “出卖某人；背叛某人；让某人背黑锅；为了自保而牺牲某人”。

用于描述在某种情况下，一个人为了使自己免受伤害、麻烦或责任，

而将另一个人置于不利的境地，通常是通过指责、诬陷或推卸责任等方式。

Throw someone under the bus是一个相对比较新的说法，

在美国第一次出现在媒体上应该是1991年。

许多英国网友表示在英国早就有了，英国年轻人普遍用来表示要把某人赶走，或揭示秘密。也有“背叛”的意思，但程度没有那么可怕。

但是，等这个短语传到了美国，对华盛顿的政客来说，

死道友不死贫道是再平常不过了，所以它就频繁出现在了政治评论或体育报道里，

成了彻底的“牺牲、当作替罪羊、背叛”的意思。

例如：

When things go wrong, John always finds for someone to throw under the bus.

一出问题，约翰总是找人来当替罪羊。

Don't throw me under the bus when the boss asks about the mistake. We made it together.

当老板问起那个错误时，别让我背黑锅。那是我们一起犯的错。
