In this episode of The SaaS Podcast, Omer Khan interviews Pat Kinsel, the founder and CEO of Proof, a transaction security platform. Pat shares his journey from selling his social search startup to Twitter to founding Notarize (now Proof) after a notary error nearly cost him his acquisition money. He discusses the initial struggles of Notarize, including losing money on each transaction and the challenges of lobbying to change notary laws. Pat also recounts how the COVID-19 pandemic led to a surge in demand but also significant operational challenges and a shift in focus towards enterprise clients. Ultimately, this led to the rebranding to Proof and expansion into broader transaction security, serving thousands of customers and approaching $100 million in ARR.
