On the other hand, LLMs, with their phenomenal language understanding and generation capabilities, offer a new dimension to information retrieval. However, they sometimes lack verifiability, attributions, and relevancy. In my view, we can expect the rise of Language Search Models (LSMs), where the strengths of both LLMs and traditional search engines will be combined. This hybrid approach will leverage the comprehensiveness and freshness of search engines while harnessing LLMs' advanced language processing abilities.
