The current era of AI, defined by Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), prioritizes human preference over objective accuracy, resulting in systems that excel at assistance but struggle with reliable, autonomous execution. While models like ChatGPT are highly effective at human-in-the-loop tasks, their design inherently encourages hallucination, sycophancy, and over-confidence to satisfy human evaluators. This architectural focus prevents AI from being trusted with high-stakes, background automation tasks like accounting or complex decision-making. Future AI development must shift from optimizing for human-pleasing interactions toward engineering for reliability and true automation. By redesigning the AI stack to function without human intervention, developers can move beyond the limitations of current large language models and enable software that performs consistent, high-value work in critical production environments.
