Comic Con San Diego 2024 is in the books and the MCU returned after being absent last year. At first, it seemed as if they were just announcing the movies that have been shot or are just about to shoot. Then, at the end, they dropped some nuggets. Not only were the beloved Russo Bros returning to direct both Avengers movies, but they also announced a new villain Doctor Doom, a new title Doomsday, and a "new" actor to play him. Robert Downey Jr was announced to play the villainous Viktor Von Doom. Is this a good move or is it very desperate? The reactions seem to be split among the fans. In this video, we discuss the latest Marvel Studios news from Comic Con, including the surprising announcement of Robert Downey Jr. as Doctor Doom in the upcoming Avengers Secret Wars and Avengers Doomsday. What does this mean for the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Is the return of Robert Downey Jr. the boost the MCU needs or a sign of desperation? We'll also touch on the latest updates on the Fantastic Four, the future of Deadpool and Wolverine after they crushed and broke all box office records, and what's next for the Merc with the Mouth. Join us for a Comic Con recap and answers to your burning questions. All this and more on this episode of The Big Thing Live with Kristian Harloff and John Rocha.
