STAR WARS: EPISODE X Is Happening?! Jon Watts To Direct NEW Skywalker Trilogy! | Kristian Harloff Show

Star Wars: Episode X is reportedly moving forward — and the Skywalker Saga isn't over! Spider-Man: No Way Home director Jon Watts is set to direct the first movie in a brand-new Star Wars trilogy, with Rey expected to return as Lucasfilm continues the story beyond The Rise of Skywalker.

On today's Kristian Harloff Show, we break down this potentially massive development for the future of Star Wars. Is continuing the Skywalker Saga the right move? What happened to the previously discussed Rey/New Jedi Order movie? And is Jon Watts the filmmaker who can successfully launch the next era of Star Wars on the big screen?

After directing Tom Holland's Spider-Man trilogy for Marvel Studios and Sony, Watts taking on Star Wars: Episode X would be a major move. But after the divisive response to the sequel trilogy, does Lucasfilm need Episode X — or should Star Wars finally leave the Skywalker Saga behind and focus on completely new characters and eras?

We're also talking about the absolutely massive performance of Avengers: Endgame Encore. The re-release reportedly earned $86 million worldwide, including $26 million domestically and $60 million internationally. Seven years after Endgame originally hit theaters, audiences are still showing up for the Avengers.

Does this prove Avengers: Doomsday could be even bigger than we're expecting?

Speaking of Doomsday, the Russo Brothers are teasing a very different Thor. After the increasingly comedic direction of Thor: Ragnarok and Thor: Love and Thunder, Chris Hemsworth's God of Thunder is reportedly going to have a much more serious presence in Avengers: Doomsday. Is this the Thor MCU fans have been waiting to see again?

And finally, John Cho is looking back at the Star Trek movie that almost happened with Quentin Tarantino. Tarantino's proposed R-rated Star Trek remains one of Hollywood's biggest "what if?" projects. Would his gangster-inspired take on Star Trek actually have worked?
