Modern hostility between young men and women stems from a shift in formative experiences, characterized by increased time spent online, smaller family sizes, and a decline in shared social spaces. This generation faces a "romantic recession" where algorithmic content reinforces pernicious stereotypes, painting extreme portraits of the opposite sex and fueling mutual distrust. Young people increasingly view relationships through a lens of individual achievement rather than collective betterment, leading to a decline in traditional social integration. Furthermore, the erosion of "third spaces" and the privatization of social activities have left young adults without the necessary friction of real-world interaction to develop empathy and compromise. This social malaise is compounded by a political landscape that fails to address the specific needs of working-class men and women, further entrenching ideological divides and fostering a pervasive sense of isolation.
