In this very first episode of the Art Market Podcast, hosts Georgina Adam and Tom Forwood dive straight into one of the most talked-about events kicking off 2026 in the art market – the launch of Art Basel Qatar.

This episode explores whether the Middle East is truly the next major art market, or simply the latest “El Dorado” in a long history of art market ventures, and whether the Gulf region can become a long-term hub for collectors.

Plus, in the second half, a deep dive into art-backed lending, and how collectors use art as collateral, why banks are becoming more cautious, and whether art is truly an investment or simply a store of value.
