The Indian equity market is experiencing significant volatility driven by aggressive Foreign Institutional Investor (FII) selling despite strong Domestic Institutional Investor (DII) support. While domestic "firepower" remains robust through balanced advantage and multi-asset funds—which hold approximately 4-5 lakh crore in deployable cash and arbitrage—the market is struggling under the weight of excessive supply from IPOs and QIPs. FII outflows are likely triggered by rising US bond yields and pension fund rebalancing, pushing FII holdings to a 16-year low. Although the Nifty 50 index appears strained, specific sectors outside the main index continue to reward stock pickers who prioritize strong earnings growth and cash flow. Technical analysis suggests that after breaching the 23,000 mark, the next major support levels sit at 22,200 and potentially 21,200 if the current downward trend persists.
