Mark Waid joins John Siuntres to discuss his current work on DC Comics titles, including the *Kingdom of Zod* Superman epic, *Batman and Robin: Dynamic Duos*, and the *Justice League Unlimited* role-playing game. The conversation highlights the creative process behind modernizing classic characters while maintaining their core identities. Beyond comics, the dialogue shifts to the history of 1950s television, specifically the influence of sponsors on programming, and critiques of recent *Star Trek* series. A significant portion of the discussion focuses on overlooked comic book artists from the Golden and Silver Ages, such as Jimmy Thompson, Mort Meskin, and George Roussos, whose innovative storytelling and visual techniques remain underappreciated. The exchange emphasizes the importance of recognizing these foundational creators and explores the evolving landscape of the comic book industry, from anthology formats to the challenges of modern character continuity.
