The current U.S. administration lacks the institutional capacity and specialized knowledge required to address complex global issues like demographic shifts, deglobalization, and trade policy. While all administrations suffer from some degree of "tunnel vision" based on the personal backgrounds of their appointees, the current leadership is uniquely isolated due to the deliberate dismantling of the Republican Party’s policy arm and the mass removal of career civil servants. This "lobotomized" government structure features thousands of vacant high-level positions because the president prioritizes personal loyalty over technical expertise, resulting in a leadership layer that cannot effectively process or act upon critical intelligence. Even when cabinet members present factual realities—such as the economic impact of closing the Strait of Hormuz—the information is often dismissed if it contradicts the president's worldview. Consequently, any future administration will face a multi-year challenge to restaff and restore basic functional governance.
