Ep 360 | Meet Puma Shen (沈伯洋): The Democratic Progressive Party Legislator Running for Taipei Mayor

Overseas Taiwanese communities serve as a vital backbone for Taiwan’s global advocacy and research, providing the necessary networks and funding to investigate sensitive issues like Chinese infiltration that are often constrained within Taiwan’s domestic academic environment. By leveraging these international connections, researchers can bypass local political pressures and collaborate with global organizations to raise awareness. Beyond geopolitical strategy, urban development in Taipei requires a shift toward transit-oriented models that integrate affordable housing directly into transit hubs, ensuring equitable living spaces as property values rise. Furthermore, Taipei possesses a unique advantage as a premier hiking destination, which can be effectively promoted by linking accessible mountain trails with the city’s rich cultural history and local commerce. These initiatives collectively strengthen Taiwan’s international standing and domestic quality of life, positioning the city for sustainable, inclusive growth.
