The new X-Men casting may be getting the attention—but what about the filmmaking departments responsible for actually bringing these mutants to life?

In Episode #124 of The Silly, Nerdy and Wordy Podcast, I go beyond the new X-Men casting and focus on three areas of production that I believe will be critical to the MCU’s future X-Men: writing and screenplay; hair, makeup, wardrobe, costume design and prosthetics; and visual, practical and special effects.

From developing the right story and creating the looks of familiar and never-before-seen live-action mutants to bringing their unique powers to the screen, these production departments will play a major role in shaping this new era of X-Men.

I also discuss Mr. Sinister as an example of the challenges involved in translating a distinctive comic-book character into live action through costume, makeup, prosthetics and effects.
