AI agents utilized for SRE tasks like incident response require broad system access, creating significant security risks if they are manipulated or make errors. Because agents cannot be trusted to police themselves, security must be enforced at the network level rather than within the agent software. Claw Patrol, an open-source proxy, addresses this by intercepting and inspecting every byte of outgoing traffic from agents, regardless of the protocol. It uses a configuration-based rule system to restrict actions, inject credentials securely, and provide an audit trail. By operating as a transparent, protocol-aware gateway, it allows organizations to safely grant agents access to critical infrastructure like PostgreSQL and AWS without risking catastrophic, unauthorized commands. This approach treats agent software as an untrusted black box, ensuring that security boundaries remain robust even as AI capabilities evolve.
