Podcast cover

News Time

A 150-year-old library book titled *The Antiquities of Athens* was recently returned to the Kiama Library after being discovered behind a fireplace during home renovations. Although the accumulated late fees totaled approximately $28,000, the library waived the fine and placed the well-preserved volume on special display. Australia celebrated a dominant performance at the Commonwealth Games, topping the medal tally with 70 gold medals and showcasing stories of resilience, such as 76-year-old gold medalist Louise Hoskins. Additionally, conservation efforts at Taronga Zoo successfully bred 1,000 endangered Campbell’s keeled glass snails—a species once thought extinct that uniquely gives birth through its neck. These snails are now being released back into the wild on Norfolk Island to bolster their dwindling population.
