AWE XR
Snap Inc. is transitioning from smartphone-based experiences to wearable augmented reality with the launch of its latest Spectacles. These glasses prioritize human-centric computing, allowing users to interact with digital content while remaining present in the physical world. The hardware features a proprietary optical engine with a 51-degree field of view, dual Snapdragon processors for low-latency spatial tracking, and a lightweight design suitable for extended wear. To support this ecosystem, Snap is introducing agentic development tools in Lens Studio, native C/C++ support, and a spatial benchmark to enhance developer productivity. Priced at $2,195, the device aims to make spatial computing more accessible and integrated into daily life. By leveraging advanced waveguide technology and AI-driven environmental understanding, these glasses offer a new paradigm for shared, immersive experiences that move beyond the limitations of traditional handheld screens.
