Quiet will not always feel peaceful at first. For someone carrying deep trauma or emotional pain, extended silence may initially feel unsafe or overwhelming. Begin gently and consider talking with a trusted pastor, mature Christian friend, or qualified counselor.

Silence is not the destination. God is. We do not become quiet merely to experience less of the world. We become quiet so that we can be more attentive to the One who has been with us all along.
