On Friday’s episode of The Daily T, Camilla Tominey sits down with John Bolton, the former US national security adviser, to examine the state of the UK-US “special relationship” following Andy Burnham’s sudden arrival as Prime Minister.

Mr Bolton discusses the US reaction to the appointment of Ed Miliband as Foreign Secretary, and predicts how the Prime Minister will navigate Donald Trump’s transactional foreign policy.

Camilla and Mr Bolton explore friction points ranging from lingering tensions over Middle East diplomacy to the Chagos Islands. They discuss the growing panic within the Republican Party before the upcoming US midterm elections, the looming threat of congressional investigations, and how the UK government should navigate a volatile, unscripted second Trump administration.
