Mobile network infrastructure is undergoing a shift toward increased densification driven by rising data traffic and the demand for higher service quality. While 5G handset penetration and Fixed Wireless Access (FWA) remain primary growth drivers, emerging technologies like AI and 5G Standalone (5G SA) are beginning to influence network architecture, necessitating more frequent site upgrades and indoor coverage solutions. Despite concerns regarding satellite technology as a potential substitute for terrestrial networks, it remains a complementary tool for remote areas rather than a viable replacement for high-capacity urban infrastructure. Cellnex is addressing these evolving requirements by leveraging advanced radio analysis and digital simulation to optimize network performance. Ultimately, the industry faces a critical need for increased capital investment to bridge the performance gap between European markets and global leaders in Asia and the United States.
