Artificial intelligence threatens the fundamental evolutionary drivers of human behavior by potentially eliminating the necessity for labor and struggle. When basic survival needs are met without effort, the lack of external pressure can trigger psychological dysregulation, mirroring the societal collapse observed in the "Mouse Utopia" experiment. In that study, mice provided with infinite resources experienced a breakdown in social structure, resulting in apathy, aggression, and eventual extinction. Humans, while equipped with a prefrontal cortex, remain vulnerable to this "spiritual death" if they fail to cultivate self-imposed challenges, such as skill acquisition and meaningful contribution. To avoid this, individuals must consciously pursue purpose through four potential paths: rejecting AI, succumbing to apathy, seeking extreme physical frontiers like space exploration, or building purpose-driven virtual lives that provide the structure and dopamine loops necessary for fulfillment.
