In reality, the vast majority of UK PPAs are short-term utility contracts that allow renewable generators to manage market volatility and secure revenue after subsidy schemes expire. As the energy system shifts toward higher renewable penetration, decoupling from gas-driven pricing, market participants face increasing complexity in balancing supply and demand. This evolution necessitates more sophisticated, real-time matching of green energy certificates, such as REGOs, to ensure transparency.
