Introduction to Operator & Agents

Operator, a new AI agent, automates complex digital tasks by directly controlling a cloud-based web browser through visual screen interpretation and mouse and keyboard inputs. Unlike traditional automation relying on rigid APIs, the underlying "Computer Using Agent" (CUA) model enables the system to navigate websites, execute purchases, and manage reservations autonomously. To ensure safety, the system employs a multi-layered mitigation strategy, including real-time human-in-the-loop confirmations for stateful actions and a prompt injection monitor to detect suspicious activity. Currently available as an early research preview for U.S. Pro users, the platform enhances productivity by handling routine chores—such as grocery shopping and scheduling—while maintaining user privacy through isolated, private sessions. Future iterations will focus on expanding capabilities, improving reliability, and increasing accessibility for broader global use.
