What Is the Spirit Calling You to Do?

The Feast of the Ascension marks the definitive transition of Jesus into a higher dimension of existence, enabling him to govern the Church universally rather than being confined to a specific location in space and time. This shift from a "straddling" existence between dimensions to a transcendent state allows Christ to impinge upon all of reality through the Holy Spirit. By using the analogy of geometric dimensions—where a higher dimension includes and elevates the lower—the Ascension illustrates how Christ remains intimately connected to his mystical body. Rather than gazing upward in passive anticipation of his return, believers are called to discern their unique roles in the mission of the Church. Consequently, the focus for the faithful shifts from speculating about the timing of the Kingdom’s consummation to actively cooperating with the Holy Spirit to build that Kingdom in the present.
