The YouTube video "Self-Driving Storage: AI Agent Automation for Data Infrastructure" from the IBM Technology channel introduces the concept of self-driving storage, drawing parallels to self-driving cars. It explains how storage partitions, which are mobile subsets of a storage array, are key to this technology. By feeding an AIOps brain with time-series data on storage metrics (like capacity and performance) and protection schemes (like snapshots and disaster recovery), the system can make informed decisions. The video then outlines a three-step adoption process, beginning with predictive alerts and recommendations for capacity management, progressing to automated workload placement with user confirmation, and culminating in fully autonomous performance optimization where the AI proactively manages and moves data without human intervention, such as preparing for peak retail seasons.
