Ironworks | What Are You Looking At?

Podcast cover

Athey Creek Ironworks | Audio Podcast

Focusing one's attention determines the trajectory of life, as the direction of one's gaze dictates the direction of one's path. Misguided focus—manifesting as fear, greed, doubt, pride, or spiritual blindness—frequently leads to moral and practical derailment. Biblical narratives illustrate these pitfalls: the Israelites’ fear of Pharaoh, Lot’s greedy pursuit of the well-watered plains, the spies’ doubt when facing giants, and Nebuchadnezzar’s prideful self-reliance. These examples demonstrate how shifting focus away from God leads to catastrophic outcomes. Conversely, maintaining a fixed gaze on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, provides the necessary clarity to navigate life's challenges. Consistent engagement with scripture and prayer serves as the primary mechanism for anchoring one's perspective, ensuring that life remains aligned with divine purpose rather than being distracted by worldly obstacles or internal shortcomings.
