Modern society imposes a significant, often unrecognized, burden on men by demanding the suppression of natural predispositions toward aggression, dominance, and risk-taking. This "domestication" requires substantial emotional containment, forcing men to operate far from their behavioral set points. While distributions of these traits overlap significantly between sexes, the cultural shift toward selecting for traditionally feminine traits like orderliness and low risk-taking creates a unique, effortful challenge for men. Educational systems, which often ignore developmental differences in boys, further exacerbate this disconnect. Rather than viewing these challenges as a zero-sum competition for victimhood, society should focus on creating inclusive structures that recognize the inherent value of all individuals. Addressing these feelings of displacement and the lack of a clear societal role for young men is essential for fostering a more cohesive future.
