Audio Flux serves as a creative "sandbox" or "sonic trampoline" for short-form audio storytelling, designed to encourage experimentation among makers and curiosity among listeners. Operating through biannual "circuits," the initiative utilizes specific creative constraints—including a strict three-minute duration, a central theme, and specific prompts—to overcome the paralysis of a blank slate. The inaugural circuit, "Letting Go," features a collaboration with artist Wendy MacNaughton, requiring producers to draw inspiration from her illustrations of keys, an abandoned gas station, or an intimate couple. Additionally, each creator must incorporate never-before-shared personal archival recordings, such as voice memos or Super 8 film. This structured approach transforms abstract themes into a series of under-ten-minute podcast episodes that pair original "FluxWorks" with behind-the-scenes conversations with their makers.
