In this episode, MassDevice Editor Chris Newmarker talks with Eric Cheng, MD, chief medical officer at Medtronic’s cardiac rhythm management business about the future of medical-grade cardiac monitors like Medtronic Linq monitors.

These tiny devices, placed just under the skin, can collect heart rhythm data and transmit it directly to doctors, like Cheng, who is a practicing electrophysiologist. The Linq II has a battery life of more than four years. How does its functionality compare to consumer monitors, and can Linq someday find a role as a health tracking tool sold over the counter?
