Patients must be cautioned against esophageal irritation and ulceration, necessitating administration with a full glass of water and remaining upright afterward. Sun sensitivity and potential risks for bone growth suppression or tooth discoloration in pediatric populations require careful risk-benefit assessment. Crucially, metal cations like calcium, iron, and magnesium significantly reduce drug absorption through binding interactions. Managing these interactions requires spacing doses by at least two hours before or four hours after supplement intake, or temporarily pausing non-essential supplementation during the treatment course to ensure therapeutic efficacy.
