Podcast cover

Greeking Out from National Geographic Kids

Season 12 of Nat Geo Kids Greeking Out on YouTube features original adaptations of Greek myths, beginning with "Eros and Psyche, Part One." The episode introduces Psyche, a princess whose beauty rivals Aphrodite, leading the goddess to task her son Eros (Cupid) with making Psyche fall for a terrible person. However, Eros falls in love with Psyche's inner beauty and disobeys his mother, but keeps his identity as a god secret. Aphrodite prevents anyone from marrying Psyche, and Psyche's parents consult the Oracle of Delphi, who, influenced by Aphrodite, foretells Psyche marrying a monster. Psyche accepts her fate and is escorted by Zephyrus to a magical kingdom where she marries Eros, who insists on remaining unseen. Psyche's sisters, driven by jealousy, convince her that her husband is a monster, leading her to betray his trust by looking at him with a lamp, which causes Eros to flee. Distraught, Psyche decides to search for Eros, setting the stage for the next part of the story.
