In this episode of the Heavy Networking podcast, Michael Winston from Fiserv and Chris Wade from iTential share insights into Fiserv's successful journey toward large-scale network automation. Initially, Fiserv faced challenges with consultant-driven automation that didn’t provide real value for engineers and failed to fit into their daily routines. They realized the importance of automating the tasks that took up the most time for their engineers, such as creating configuration files and managing network data, rather than just speeding up deployment processes. This shift led them to adopt iTential's platform, which supports low-code and no-code automation, workflow orchestration, and data integration across various vendors and cloud services. This approach has allowed Fiserv to develop a more mature and scalable automation practice, with the ultimate aim of creating a self-service model where developers and other teams can provision resources independently, without needing direct input from network engineers.
