
E-commerce sellers recently secured two significant victories involving federal tariff refunds and Amazon’s advertising payment policies. Following a Supreme Court ruling declaring certain tariffs illegal, the U.S. government launched the ACE refund portal in record time, though initial technical surges caused widespread 504 errors. This rapid government action was driven by judicial pressure from Judge Richard Eaton and the need to avoid mounting interest payments and negative political optics. Simultaneously, a coordinated protest by large-scale sellers forced Amazon to delay its plan to remove credit cards as a payment method for advertising until at least August. While these developments offer immediate financial relief and demonstrate the power of collective seller mobilization, the long-term challenge remains organizing a formal lobby to counter Amazon’s monopolistic practices and complex fee structures.
