While Apple’s implementation—ranging from the infamous "rich Corinthian leather" in Find My Friends to torn-paper calendar pages—successfully humanized early interfaces, it eventually devolved into an indulgent, "infantilizing" style that prioritized visual artifice over functional interaction. App designers Dave Wiskus and Nevin Mergen highlight that this design era reflected Steve Jobs’s personal preference for tactile, reassuring interfaces, even when such textures lacked logical necessity.
