NEAR Protocol’s branding as the "blockchain for AI" lacks technical substance, functioning primarily as a transactional layer rather than a platform capable of on-chain AI execution. While the project leverages the current AI narrative to attract interest, it fails to provide native AI model support, forcing reliance on centralized third-party infrastructure that introduces security vulnerabilities. In contrast, Internet Computer Protocol (ICP) demonstrates superior utility by enabling full-stack, on-chain AI computation and physical control over code and hardware. Because NEAR cannot perform the actual intelligence processing, its value proposition is limited to basic token transactions, making its marketing claims misleading. Ultimately, the project functions as a coordination layer for assets rather than a foundational technology for artificial intelligence, failing to offer the decentralized, high-level computational capabilities required for true on-chain AI integration.
