This episode of Fresh Air Weekend features two interviews. First, Tonya Mosley interviews Delroy Lindo, who is nominated for an Academy Award for his role as Delta Slim in the film *Sinners*. Lindo discusses his preparation for the role, which included reading books about blues music and musicians. He shares a story about a scene in the movie where his character is talking about a lynching and begins humming, which was unscripted and came about organically during filming. Lindo also reflects on an incident at the BAFTAs where a racial slur was shouted and recounts an experience of racial othering he faced as a child. The second interview is with novelist Tayari Jones, who discusses her new book, *Kin*, and her previous work, *An American Marriage*. Jones talks about her creative process and the inspiration behind her stories, including her childhood experiences during the Atlanta child murders and the influence of her parents' civil rights activism.
