The Chaotix Detective Agency, led by the noir-inspired Vector the Crocodile alongside Espio the Chameleon and Charmy Bee, faces a period of professional stagnation before being thrust into a new conflict with Dr. Eggman. While the team struggles with a lack of paying clients and the mundane realities of sharing a combined office and living space, a surprise visit from Sonic the Hedgehog precedes the arrival of a booby-trapped package. This delivery triggers a violent confrontation with a Buzz Bomber badnik, which Vector defeats through brute force. The narrative shifts abruptly from this victory to a flash-forward where Vector and Sonic find themselves imprisoned in a secret base, establishing a mystery regarding how an intended celebratory trip for ice cream resulted in their capture. This sequence serves as the prologue to a larger investigation into Eggman's recent activities and the agency's most significant case to date.
