#59 Etta from Heavyweight

In this episode of Heavyweight, Jonathan Goldstein assists his friend Gregor with a family issue: Gregor's elderly parents, Etta and Milt, refuse to leave their cluttered three-story Victorian home. Etta, an artist, has filled the house with her numerous collections, posing a safety hazard. Gregor initially proposes converting their old farmhouse into a museum to house Etta's collections, but the idea is met with skepticism from his siblings. His brother, Dimitri, suggests hypnosis to help Etta let go of her possessions. After the hypnotism idea falls through, Etta has an art show, but Milt's subsequent health scare prompts Etta to consider downsizing. She decides to find suitable homes for her collection of bottles, each inscribed with a message. Later, Etta is diagnosed with brain cancer, leading the family to move into the Victorian home to care for her. In her final weeks, Etta finds peace and lets go of her material attachments. After Etta's death, Gregor continues to work on the museum as a tribute to her, and Jonathan receives one of Etta's bottles with a message about living like a flowing river.
