2025 Update: Gregor

In this episode of Heavyweight, Jonathan Goldstein revisits an older episode featuring Gregor, a friend grappling with career disappointments and overshadowed success. The central conflict revolves around Gregor's past generosity in lending a CD box set of field recordings to Moby, which Moby then sampled to create his breakthrough album, "Play." Gregor's feelings of being left behind are explored, leading Jonathan to accompany Gregor to Los Angeles to attempt to retrieve the CDs from Moby. Despite the initial awkwardness and Gregor's pessimistic outlook, the encounter leads to a reconciliation between Gregor and Moby, with Moby acknowledging the importance of Gregor's contribution to his music. Although Gregor doesn't get the CDs back, he achieves a sense of closure and renewed friendship, realizing the value of what he already possesses. Years later, Moby claims to have found the CDs but never returns them, yet Gregor has moved on and can now listen to Moby's music without resentment.
