Overractology＝ A "nearby" facet in international relations An emotional outlet for young IR researchers and practitioners A bridge between China and the world

Overreactology is a "made-in-China" podcast about international relations for and by young people. We got the idea for this podcast from the concept "Everyday International Relations".

We seek to remove the ‘distance’ that young people feel about international relations, to look beyond abstract concepts to find the real you and me in the world of international relations, and to rediscover a sense of meaning that has been missing under the grand narratives. There will be no experts, no lectures, no 'objective truths', no 'unbiased knowledge', but rather an examination of how the individual's everyday experience is entangled with the wider geopolitical conflicts and changes in global politics.

【Season One · Standing at the Crossroads of the World】

Standing at the crossroads of the world, young people do not know where to go. Our inaugural programme "Season One" focuses on the bitterness and grievances, idealism and enthusiasm of the young people in IR. We seek to form dialogues between people around the world to talk about how we entered the field of IR, how we discovered our research interests or passions in our everyday experiences, and how people might have "quit" or "exited" and pursue future careers elsewhere.

There are three episodes in this season. The first episode will go live tomorrow (May 5th), and the second and third episodes will go live next Sunday (May 12th) and the Sunday after that (May 19th).

【Future Plans】

Overreactology will be produced and published based on different themes. The preliminary outline of future themes includes [Everyday Life, War and Terrorism], [The Intersection of Science and Technology with International Relations], [Frontline Practices in International Relations], and [Immigration and Living Abroad], to name a few.

At the moment, only Jasmine and Alina are doing the planning and production of this podcast. We are aware of the limitations of our own knowledge and perspectives, so if you (or any of your friends) have any ideas about being a guest or have any proposals that resonate with us, please feel free to contact us!
