Chapter I

The podcast "S-Town" begins with Brian Reed investigating a potential murder in Woodstock, Alabama, based on information from John B. McLemore, an antique clock restorer. John claims a young man, Dylan Nichols, was murdered by Cabram Burt, the son of a wealthy family, and the crime was covered up. Reed's initial research yields little evidence, but he is drawn into John's world, characterized by his intellectual interests, depression, and criticism of his hometown. Reed travels to Woodstock, meets John, and visits his unique property, including a hedge maze. Despite John's eccentric behavior and initial lack of progress, Reed eventually speaks with Skylar Goodson, who confirms Cabram admitted to the killing, reinforcing John's claims about the town's complicity and hidden truths.
